SQZ Race 1 – Polynesian Va’a Regatta – Saturday 15th February 2020

What a great start to the 2020 SQ Zone OC6 Season……

Our Novice Mixed crew, were in Race 1, the 8km Short Course Women/Novice Mixed event.  The team worked well together and was able to come in with Line Honours our of 24 crews, taking out 1st place in their category with a time of 40.35.6. Congratulations to Dave, Wayne, Daryl, Paula, Renee & Lana on a well earned result.

Next, saw our Golden Masters Mixed contest Race 2, the 8km Short Course Mens/Mixed event and they surely did not disappoint.  They banded together and placed 2nd in their division in a time of 42.31.3, not far behind Noosa.  Congratulations goes to Julie, Lez, Lindsay, Vicky, Gordo and Bob.

Lastly, we saw our Masters Mixed contest Race 5, the 16km Long Course Womens/Mixed event.  By this stage, conditions had picked up and there were times where more effort than required was needed.  All team members stayed strong and remained focus to bring home 2nd place behind Sunshine Coast in their division with a time of 1.36.29.8 and taking out 7th place over all out of 22 crews. Congratulations goes to Mel, Daryl, Kaz, Dave, Wayne & CC.

Your regatta was wonderfully ran by your members and volunteers. The opening ceremony was a delight, races commenced on time and ran to schedule, good selection of food on offer & a great vibe throughout the day.
